The Terminator is a run-and-gun action platformer developed by Probe Software and released for the Sega Genesis in 1992. Based on the classic 1984 sci-fi film, players take on the role of resistance fighter Kyle Reese. You must battle through the post-apocalyptic future to time-travel back to 1984 Los Angeles, where your ultimate goal is to protect Sarah Connor and defeat the unstoppable T-800 cyborg.
How to play
Navigate through enemy-filled levels, shooting Skynet forces in the future and hostile forces in the present. The Sega Genesis controls feature the D-pad for movement and aiming, with the A, B, and C buttons used for throwing explosives, shooting your primary weapon, and jumping (typically mapped to your keyboard’s arrow keys + Z, X, C or A, S, D and Enter for Start).
Tips
- The opening level in 2029 is famously difficult; focus on destroying the flying Hunter-Killers quickly and keep moving to survive.
- You have a limited supply of time bombs. Conserve them for the end-of-level bosses, especially the final confrontation with the Terminator.
