Game description:

Released in 1994 by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Street Fighter II – The New Challengers expands the iconic fighting series with four additional characters: Cammy, Fei Long, Dee Jay, and T. Hawk. This significant update diversifies the roster while introducing new moves for returning world warriors, a refined combo scoring system, and enhanced graphics and sound to push the limits of the 16-bit console.

How to Play

Your objective is to deplete your opponent’s health bar in a best-of-three martial arts bout using a mix of normal attacks, throws, and special moves. On the SNES, combat utilizes a six-button layout: the D-pad controls movement, jumping, and blocking, while Y, X, and L execute light, medium, and heavy punches, and B, A, and R control the corresponding kicks. In the browser, these actions typically map to the arrow keys for movement, with Z, X, A, S, Q, and W acting as the attack buttons, plus Enter for Start.

Tips

  • Watch your combo score: Take advantage of the new combo tracking system; landing consecutive hits without being blocked not only deals massive damage but also awards bonus points.
  • Master the new fighters: Familiarize yourself with the newcomers’ unique mechanics, such as Cammy’s Cannon Spike for anti-air defense or T. Hawk’s command grabs, which require precise motions but deal devastating damage close up.
  • Play defensively: Blocking is performed by holding back on the D-pad (away from your opponent); learning to seamlessly alternate between high and low blocks is essential for surviving against aggressive opponents.
