Game description:

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers is a cornerstone 1993 fighting game developed by Capcom for the SNES. Building on the genre-defining arcade hit, this update introduces four new charactersโ€”Cammy, Fei Long, Dee Jay, and T. Hawkโ€”along with a refined combo scoring system and updated artwork. It remains one of the most recognizable and highly competitive 1-on-1 martial arts games of the 16-bit era.

How to play

The objective is to deplete your opponent’s health bar by landing strikes and special moves before the timer runs out. Win two rounds to take the match. Blocking is performed by holding the directional pad away from your opponent.

Tips

  • Master the cross-up: Jumping over your opponent and striking just as you pass their centerline forces them to reverse their blocking direction, opening them up for a combo.
  • Learn projectile motions: The quarter-circle forward punch (down, down-forward, forward + punch) is essential for Ryu and Ken’s Hadouken, letting you control space from a distance.
  • Use light attacks to poke: Heavy attacks deal more damage but leave you vulnerable if they miss or are blocked. Use faster, lighter attacks to safely test your opponent’s defenses.
