Game description:

Super Double Dragon is a classic 1993 side-scrolling beat ’em up for the SNES and the first game in the series built specifically for a home console rather than being an arcade port. Stepping away from the faster pace of its predecessors, it introduces a more deliberate, technical combat system focused on blocking, countering, and building up a Dragon Power gauge. Players once again take control of martial artists Billy and Jimmy Lee as they fight their way across city streets, airports, and forests.

To master the game, timing your defense is just as critical as offense. Using the default SNES web emulator controls, you move with the Arrow keys, while Z and X handle your core kicks and punches. Enter and Shift act as your Start and Select buttons. Most importantly, you can block incoming attacks by pressing the block button (typically mapped to A or S), which allows you to grab an enemy’s arm and counter with devastating throws or rapid strikes.

Tips:

  • Pay attention to the Dragon Power gauge at the bottom of the screen. Charging it allows you to unleash stronger attacks, such as spinning kicks or a hyper mode that temporarily speeds up your strikes.
  • Enemies in this entry are much better at blocking your standard combos. Use jump kicks and counters to break their guard and clear space when you get surrounded.
