Released for the Sega Genesis in 1994 by Spectrum Holobyte, Star Trek: The Next Generation is an action-adventure that splits its time between bridge management, ship-to-ship combat, and top-down away missions. Players command the USS Enterprise-D and its crew to explore the Romulan Neutral Zone, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover the mysteries of a legendary artifact.
How to play
Your primary objective is to complete various missions across the galaxy by managing bridge stations and beaming down to planets. Use the arrow keys to navigate menus or move your away team members. Action buttons are mapped to S, X, and Z for interacting with objects, firing weapons, and cycling through your crew, while Enter opens the main menu and your essential tricorder.
Tips
- Scan everything with your tricorder during away missions to uncover necessary clues and hidden items that are otherwise invisible.
- Select your away team carefully; bringing personnel whose skills match the mission type, such as an engineer or medical officer, is critical to success.
- During ship-to-ship combat, manage your power distribution to reinforce shields in the quadrant taking the most enemy fire.
