Released for the NES in 1986 by Namco, Sky Kid is a distinctive side-scrolling shoot ’em up that sets itself apart by scrolling continuously from right to left. You pilot a cartoonish biplane through enemy airspace, tasked with shooting down rival fighters, dodging anti-aircraft fire, and dropping bombs on designated military targets.

How to play: The main objective of each stage is to swoop down and pick up a bomb from the ground, then successfully drop it on the primary target—such as a fortress or battleship—before landing safely on the runway at the end of the level. Steer your biplane using the arrow keys. Press the Z and X keys to fire your machine gun and perform an evasive loop-the-loop. When carrying a bomb, the loop button will drop it. Use Enter for Start and Shift for Select.

Tips:

• Mastering the loop-the-loop is crucial; it makes you temporarily invincible to enemy fire and allows you to reposition yourself behind pursuing fighters.
• You can only carry one bomb at a time. If you miss the primary target, you can still complete the stage by landing on the runway, but you will miss out on bonus points.
• You can recover from a fatal hit! If your plane gets shot and starts spiraling downward, rapidly tap the loop button to pull out of the dive before hitting the ground.
