Game description:

Shanghai II: Dragon’s Eye is a classic Mahjong Solitaire puzzle game released for the Sega Genesis in 1994. Players are challenged to clear intricate formations of tiles by finding and removing matching free pairs. Along with traditional layouts, this version introduces the unique Dragon’s Eye mode, where you can either play as the Dragon Slayer attempting to clear the board, or the Dragon Master trying to fill it with tiles.

How to Play

The objective in the standard mode is to clear the entire board by matching pairs of identical tiles that are free (meaning they have no tiles on top of them and are unblocked on at least one side). Use the Arrow keys to move your cursor across the tiles, press Z or C (Genesis A or C buttons) to select a tile, and press X (Genesis B button) to deselect. Press Enter (Start) to pause or access the in-game menu.

Tips for Success

  • Work from the top down: Always prioritize removing tiles from the highest stacks first, as this will uncover more playable tiles underneath.
  • Check for multiple matches: Before committing to a pair, quickly scan the board to see if there are three or four of that tile available. Carefully choose the pair that frees up the most buried pieces.
  • Focus on the long edges: Tiles on the far left and right edges are often the key to unlocking the central mass, so clear them early when possible.
