Developed by SEGA in 1986, OutRun is a legendary racing game that defines the arcade driving experience on the Sega Genesis. Instead of competing in closed circuit laps, you take the wheel of a red sports car and race against the clock across a branching journey. With its iconic soundtrack and vibrant environments, the game is celebrated for its sense of speed, relaxing coastal drives, and the freedom to choose your own route to five distinct endings.
How to play
Your objective is to reach the next checkpoint before the timer runs out to extend your drive. At the end of each stage, the road forks, allowing you to choose your next environment. Drive fast, weave through traffic, and shift between high and low gears to maintain top speed.

Tips
- Master the gear shift: Drop into low gear when recovering from a crash or navigating exceptionally tight corners, then quickly shift back to high gear to reach your top speed.
- Choose your route carefully: The branching paths vary in difficulty. The left forks generally offer easier, more relaxed routes, while the right forks demand more technical driving and sharper reflexes.
- Anticipate traffic: Colliding with other vehicles or roadside obstacles will cost you precious seconds. It is often better to briefly let off the accelerator to navigate safely rather than risking a major crash.
