Released for the Super Nintendo in 1995, NBA Jam Tournament Edition is the definitive 16-bit arcade basketball experience. Building on the wild two-on-two action of the original, this version introduces updated 1994-1995 rosters featuring new rookies, expanded tournament modes, and the ability to substitute players between quarters. The signature over-the-top dunks, fiery hot streaks, and rapid-fire commentary remain completely intact.
How to Play
The goal is to outscore the opposing team in fast-paced matchups. Using the SNES controls, move your player with the D-pad. On offense, press B to shoot or dunk, Y to pass, and hold A, L, or R for a turbo boost to run faster and perform spectacular moves. On defense, use B to jump for blocks or rebounds, and Y to attempt a steal.
Tips
- He’s On Fire: Sink three consecutive baskets with the same player without the opponent scoring to become “On Fire,” giving you unlimited turbo and greatly improved accuracy until the other team scores.
- Shatter the Backboard: Performing a massive turbo dunk during the final moments of a game has a chance to shatter the glass, showering the court in debris.
- Manage Your Turbo: Your turbo meter depletes rapidly. Save it for driving to the hoop, chasing down fast breaks, or making critical blocks rather than holding it constantly.
