Game description:

Released in 1992 by Delphine Software, Flashback: The Quest for Identity is a landmark cinematic action-platformer on the SNES. You play as Conrad B. Hart, an agent who awakens on the jungle moon of Titan with no memory and must piece together a sprawling alien conspiracy. The game is renowned for its fluid, rotoscoped animation and methodical gameplay that requires deliberate movement and precise gunplay.

How to play

Your goal is to guide Conrad across hostile environments, solving environmental puzzles and engaging in tactical shootouts. The browser controls are mapped to standard SNES inputs. Use the action buttons to draw your weapon, interact with objects, or use inventory items. When your gun is drawn, you can aim and fire.

Tips

  • Your personal force field will absorb a few enemy shots, but it requires finding specific stations to recharge. Rely on rolling and quick-drawing to avoid taking hits in the first place.
  • Always holster your weapon when you need to perform long running jumps or climb ledges; Conrad cannot perform complex acrobatics with his gun drawn.
  • When facing mutants or armed drones, a reliable tactic is to roll into their line of sight, fire quickly, and immediately roll back into cover.
