Released by Irem in 1982, Moon Patrol is a classic side-scrolling action-shooter for DOS. You drive a heavily armed moon buggy across a rugged lunar landscape, battling aerial alien saucers and navigating deadly craters in one of the earliest games to feature parallax scrolling.

How to play

Your objective is to safely pilot your buggy through each sector of the moon. You must simultaneously shoot at alien ships attacking from above and jump over rocks and craters on the ground. Use the arrow keys to accelerate, decelerate, and jump, and press Space to fire your cannons.

Tips

Your buggy’s speed dictates your jump distance. Accelerate before a jump to clear wide craters, or slow down to land safely between hazards.
Alien saucers drop bombs that can create new craters on the ground. Destroy them quickly before they alter the terrain ahead of you.
Prioritize survival over destroying every enemy. It is often safer to slow down and carefully time a jump rather than rushing forward with guns blazing.
