Flipull is a clever tile-matching puzzle game developed by Taito and released for the NES in 1989. Rather than managing falling pieces, you control a character who throws a block horizontally at a stack on the right side of the screen. The challenge lies in predicting your next move, as the block you receive in return dictates what you can match next.
How to play
Your goal is to clear a required quota of blocks to advance to the next level. When you throw your block at the stack, it must match the symbol of the first block it hits. All consecutive matching blocks in that row will be destroyed, and the block immediately behind them will bounce back to become your new piece. Use the Arrow Keys to climb up and down, and press Z or X to throw your block.
Tips
- Look at the block you are going to receive before you make a throw. A long combo is useless if the resulting block leaves you with no valid moves.
- Since blocks fall downward when the pieces beneath them are destroyed, clearing lower rows will shift the stack and change the layout. Clear blocks from the top first to avoid disrupting your plans.
