Dai-4-ji Super Robot Taisen (also known as 4th Super Robot Wars) is a 1995 tactical RPG released for the SNES. Developed by Winkysoft and published by Banpresto, this massive crossover brings iconic mecha from various classic anime series together into a single, grid-based strategic campaign. Players command a growing army of legendary robots, upgrading their machines and managing pilot abilities to stop a multi-faction dimensional war.
How to Play
Your objective is to deploy and guide your squad of mecha across grid-based battlefields, strategically positioning units to destroy enemy forces while managing health, energy, and pilot morale. Since this is an SNES title, the default controls use the D-pad for map navigation, A to select units and confirm actions, B to cancel, and Start to open the system menu. In the web player, these map to the arrow keys, Z, X, and Enter respectively.
Tips
- Pay close attention to terrain effects. Positioning your units on bases or within forests provides crucial defensive and evasion bonuses.
- Don’t waste your pilots’ spirit commands (Seishin) on standard grunts; save your powerful healing and damage-boosting abilities for formidable boss encounters.
