Game description:

Break Time: The National Pool Tour is an NES billiards game released in 1993 by FCI. Instead of just offering standard exhibition matches, it features a full single-player campaign where you travel across the United States competing against increasingly skilled pool sharks. You can play classic game types including 9-Ball, 8-Ball, Rotation, and Straight Pool, or try to solve tricky pre-set trick shots in the game’s challenge mode.

How to Play

Your objective is to defeat opponents by following standard pool rules for your chosen game type. Before taking a shot, you can adjust your angle, english (spin), and power. In the browser, the standard NES controls are mapped as follows:

  • Arrow Keys: Aim your cue and adjust shot parameters.
  • Z / X: Confirm your shot and strike the cue ball.
  • Enter: Start or pause the game.

Tips

  • Use English Carefully: Applying spin to the cue ball is essential for setting up your next shot, but overusing it can easily throw off your accuracy.
  • Watch the Power Meter: Maximum power isn’t always the best option. A softer touch often keeps the balls clustered and prevents accidental scratches.
