Ninja Kid is a 1986 NES action platformer developed by Tose and published by Bandai. You control a young ninja moving through side-scrolling stages, throwing shurikens at waves of enemies and timing your jumps across platforms to survive each level. It is a tightly paced, arcade-style game that rewards pattern recognition and precise movement above everything else.
How to play
Progress through each stage by clearing the enemies in your path. Enemies move on fixed routes — learning those routes quickly is the core skill the game asks of you. The action is single-player throughout.
| Button | Key |
|---|---|
| D-pad | Arrow keys — move |
| A | X — jump |
| B | Z — throw shuriken |
| Start | Enter — start / pause |
| Select | Shift — select |
Tips
- Pause for a moment when you meet a new enemy type rather than walking straight into it — their movement pattern is fixed and easy to exploit once you have seen it once.
- The difficulty ramps stage by stage; the habits you build with basic movement and shuriken timing in the early levels carry you further than any single-stage shortcut later on.
