Game description:

Battle Grand Prix is a top-down Formula One-style racing game developed by Hudson Soft and released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993. Players compete across 19 global tracks in Grand Prix or Single Race modes, navigating tight corners and managing detailed mechanics like changing weather conditions that demand strategic pit stops. The game also features a two-player vertical split-screen mode for head-to-head competition.

How to Play

The objective is to outpace the competition and place first across the game’s circuits. Before starting, you can fine-tune your vehicle’s downforce and suspension to match the track conditions. Use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to steer your car left and right relative to its forward movement, and the primary action buttons (Z and X) to accelerate and brake. Pay attention to your damage and tire wearโ€”if your car takes too much damage or the weather changes, you must pull into the pits for repairs and fresh tires. Drive carefully, as the vehicles cannot be put into reverse.

Tips

  • Watch the Weather: Rain will cause your tires to lose grip and spray water. Pit as soon as possible to switch to wet-weather tires to maintain your handling.
  • Tune for the Track: Adjust your suspension and downforce before a race. Higher downforce improves cornering on twisty tracks, while lower downforce maximizes top speed on straights.
