World Stadium ’89 is a classic 1989 arcade baseball game developed by Namco on their System 1 hardware. Serving as an update to the original 1988 arcade hit and a spin-off of the beloved Family Stadium series, it brings accessible, fast-paced arcade baseball action. You can select from twelve teams divided across the Urban and Country leagues, and play in one of three iconic stadiums.
How to Play
The objective is to outscore your opponent in a standard nine-inning baseball game. The default browser controls for this arcade title use the Arrow Keys for movement (aiming pitches or moving your batters and fielders). Use Z to pitch or swing the bat, and X for fielding actions or base running. Press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Pay attention to your pitcher’s stamina; leaving a tired pitcher on the mound will result in slower throws that are much easier for the opposing team to hit.
- When batting, you can shift your player’s position in the batter’s box right up until the pitch is thrown, which is crucial for reaching outside pitches or pulling inside ones.
