Game description:

Ark Area is a multidirectional arcade shooter developed and published by UPL in 1987. Serving as the direct sequel to the 1983 game Nova 2001, it puts you in control of a futuristic spacecraft navigating through 23 challenging stages. You battle enemy swarms across a scrolling space environment, utilizing a dedicated lock-on mechanic that lets you fix your firing direction while moving freely to evade incoming attacks.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive the enemy waves and progress through all 23 levels. The game relies on a multidirectional firing system where mastering the lock-on button is essential for crowd control.

  • Move: Arrow Keys
  • Shoot: Z
  • Lock Firing Direction: X
  • Insert Coin: Shift
  • Start: Enter

Tips

  • Use the firing lock frequently. By holding the lock button, you can retreat from an enemy swarm while continuing to shoot backwards at them.
  • Stay toward the center of the screen when possible; hugging the edges gives you less reaction time when fast enemies spawn from the sides.
