Fighting Hawk is a vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up released by Taito for the Arcade in 1988. Piloting a lone fighter jet, players battle through waves of enemy aircraft, ground installations, and naval fleets in a traditional, fast-paced arcade experience.
How to Play
The objective is to survive each stage and defeat the boss at the end. In the browser, use the arrow keys to move your fighter, the Z key to fire your main weapon, and the X key to deploy a screen-clearing bomb. Collect power-ups dropped by specific enemy formations to upgrade your primary shot and restock your bombs.
Tips
- Save your bombs for moments when you are completely cornered or to quickly burst down heavily armored bosses.
- Stay near the bottom-center of the screen to give yourself maximum reaction time against fast-moving projectiles and enemy ships coming from the sides.
- Prioritize upgrading your main shot early; a wide spread is critical for controlling the screen against large swarms of smaller enemies.
