Willow is an overhead action RPG developed by Capcom and released for the NES in 1989. Loosely based on the 1988 fantasy film, the game takes a different approach from Capcom's arcade platformer of the same name. You play as Willow Ufgood on a quest to defeat the evil Queen Bavmorda, exploring a large world, fighting enemies to level up, and collecting swords, shields, and magic spells in a style reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda.
How to Play
Guide Willow through dungeons and overworld areas, defeating enemies to earn experience points and level up your health and magic. You will need to find and equip stronger swords and shields, as well as magical items to aid your journey.
- Arrow Keys: Move
- Z: Attack with sword
- X: Use equipped magic
- Enter: Start / Pause
- Shift: Select / Inventory
Tips
- The Fleet Spell: Once acquired, this spell is incredibly useful, as it instantly teleports you outside of your current dungeon or castle to save you a long walk back.
- Level Grinding: If you find yourself struggling with enemies or bosses, spend some time defeating weaker enemies to level up your character and increase your maximum health and magic capacity.
- Use Disguises: You will need to find and use the Specter spell to disguise yourself as a monster to bypass the guard at Nockmaar Castle.
