Released by SEGA in 1989, Turbo OutRun brings the high-speed checkpoint racing of the arcade to the Sega Genesis. You drive a Ferrari F40 on a cross-country sprint across the United States, outrunning police patrols and battling a rival Porsche to reach the next stage before the timer runs out.

How to play

Your objective is to beat the clock to the next checkpoint while navigating traffic and varied weather conditions. Use the Arrow keys to steer your car. On the default keyboard mapping, accelerate with X, brake with Z, and trigger your limited turbo boost with S. Press Enter to start the game.

Tips

Save your turbo boosts for long straightaways where you have a clear line of sight, as hitting traffic at top speed will cause a severe crash.
Between stages, use your earned points to upgrade your engine, tires, or turbo to keep up with the increasing difficulty.
Watch out for the police—they will try to ram you off the road, so use a quick burst of speed or a sharp weave to shake them off.
