Super Volley Ball (Japan) is an indoor sports simulation released for the Sega Genesis in 1991. Developed by Micronics and published by Video System, this arcade port stands out as the main dedicated volleyball title for the console. You take control of one of eight international teams, playing through a realistic tournament bracket that demands quick reflexes and precise teamwork to master serving, setting, and spiking.
How to Play
The goal is to win sets by scoring points when the ball hits the floor on your opponent’s side of the net. Use the D-pad (arrow keys in your browser) to move your players into position. Press the A or C button (Z or C keys) to serve, bump, or jump for a spike. The B button (X key) is used for setting the ball to a teammate or blocking at the net. Press Start (Enter) to pause or begin a match.
Tips
- Watch the shadow: The ball’s shadow on the court is the best indicator of exactly where it will land, helping you position your receivers accurately.
- Quick sets: Passing to a teammate who is already in the air allows for a rapid spike that the opposing blockers will struggle to defend against.
