Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is a challenging action-platformer released for the NES in 1992. You control Luke Skywalker through key events of the iconic film, fighting the Empire across the icy plains of Hoth, the perilous swamps of Dagobah, and the floating metropolis of Cloud City. Along the way, Luke gains new Force abilities and wields both his blaster and lightsaber against Imperial forces.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate perilous platforming stages, defeat Imperial enemies, and progress through the events of the movie. On the NES, the D-pad controls Luke’s movement. Use the A button to jump and the B button to attack with your blaster or lightsaber. Press Start to pause the game and Select to switch between weapons or Force powers once you acquire them. In your browser, these map to the arrow keys for movement, Z and X for action buttons, and Enter/Shift for Start and Select.
Tips
Conserve your Force power, as it is limited and essential for difficult jumps and tougher enemies later in the game. In the ice cave levels, move cautiously as the slippery floors and spike traps can quickly deplete your health. Remember to collect the scattered Force icons to refill your energy.
