Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is an action shooter released for the Nintendo 64 in 1996 by LucasArts. Set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, you take control of the mercenary Dash Rendar. The game features a mix of on-foot third-person shooting stages and vehicle-based combat, starting with an iconic opening level where you pilot a Snowspeeder during the Battle of Hoth.

How to Play

Your objective is to guide Dash through various missions, battling Imperial forces and the criminal syndicate Black Sun. In the browser emulator, use the arrow keys to move or steer vehicles. The Z and X keys typically act as the A and B buttons for jumping and firing your blaster. Press Enter to pause, and use Shift as the Z-trigger for crouching. The C-buttons, used to swap weapons and adjust the camera, are usually mapped to letter keys like A, S, Q, and W.

Tips

• During the Battle of Hoth, you can take down AT-AT walkers instantly by flying close to their legs, deploying the tow cable, and flying in circles.
• Save your Disruptor ammo for tough boss fights like IG-88 or Boba Fett, as it deals massive damage but is very rare.
• Once you acquire the jetpack in later levels, use it carefully to platform across wide gaps and find hidden challenge points scattered throughout the stages.
