Game description:

WWF No Mercy is a legendary professional wrestling game developed by AKI Corporation and published by THQ for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. Building on its predecessors, it is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestling games ever made, featuring an extensive roster of Attitude Era superstars, a branching Championship mode, deep customization in the Create-A-Wrestler suite, and an unmatched grappling system that still holds up today.

How to Play

The core of the game revolves around weakening your opponent to win via pinfall, submission, or specific match rules (such as ladder or cage matches). The controls follow the classic AKI engine scheme for the N64: use the D-pad or Analog stick to move. Press A to grapple or perform actions, and B to strike. The C-buttons are used for running, Irish whips, entering/exiting the ring, and taunting. The R button blocks or reverses strikes, L counters grapples, and Z is used for pinning and weapon interactions. In the browser, these are mapped to your keyboard.

Tips

  • Master Reversals: Timing is everything. Tap the block button (R) just before a strike connects to reverse it, or the dodge button (L) right as your opponent goes for a grapple to counter their hold.
  • Hit Your Finisher: Build your “Attitude” meter by landing moves and taunting. Once it flashes “SPECIAL”, initiate a strong grapple (hold A) and tap the analog stick to unleash your wrestler’s devastating finishing maneuver.
  • Target Limbs: Focus your attacks on specific body parts. Weakening the legs slows down your opponent, while targeting the head or body makes them more susceptible to submissions and quick pins.
