Game description:

WWF No Mercy is a legendary professional wrestling game released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. Developed by AKI Corporation and published by THQ, it is widely celebrated as one of the greatest wrestling titles ever made, capturing the peak of the WWF’s Attitude Era. Building upon the critically acclaimed grappling engine from earlier AKI games, it features a massive roster of superstars, an intricate branching Championship mode, and an incredibly deep Create-A-Wrestler system.

How to Play

The core of WWF No Mercy revolves around mastering its intuitive yet deep grappling system. Matches are won via pinfall, submission, count-out, or knockout, depending on the match type. In the browser, the standard N64 controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to move your wrestler. The X key (A button) initiates grapples, while the Z key (B button) is used for striking. The C-buttons (mapped to A, S, Q, W) control running, Irish whips, changing focus, and climbing the turnbuckles. Use Enter for Start and Shift for the Z-trigger (blocking or reversing).

Tips

  • Master the Grapple System: Tap the grapple button for weak grapples, or hold it down for strong grapples. Stick to weak grapples and strikes early in the match; attempting strong moves too soon will likely result in a reversal.
  • Manage Your Spirit Meter: Momentum is everything. Taunting and landing successful attacks builds your Spirit Meter. Once it flashes “SPECIAL,” initiate a strong grapple and flick the analog stick (or press the corresponding mapped key) to perform your wrestler’s finishing move.
  • Utilize Reversals: Timing is crucial on defense. Press the strike block or grapple block buttons right as your opponent attacks to perform a counter, completely shifting the momentum of the match.
