Save Mary is a 1990 action game for the Atari 2600, published by Atari, Inc. — one of the last games released for the console, more than a decade after the 2600 first launched. You operate a crane above a rising flood, grabbing and stacking blocks to keep Mary above the water line before she drowns.
How to Play
The water level climbs steadily throughout each round. Move your crane with the joystick (arrow keys), position it over a block, then hold the fire button to pick it up and carry it into position. Release to place it. Stack blocks directly beneath Mary to raise her platform and stay ahead of the flood. Rounds are short; each misplaced block is hard to recover from.

Tips
- Build directly under Mary — a tall column keeps her above water more efficiently than a spread-out base.
- Cycle game variants with SELECT (F11) before you start; the easier variants slow the rise enough to get a feel for the crane’s range.
