Sonic: Scorched Quest is an award-winning Sega Genesis ROM hack created by Team Painto. Originally developed under the name Sonic 1: Burned Edition, this inventive mod transforms the classic adventure with a fiery new aesthetic. After Dr. Eggman's attempt to harness the unstable Flame Emeralds goes wrong, South Island is set ablaze. Sonic must race through completely redesigned, scorched versions of familiar zonesโsuch as Burning Hill and Roasting Marbleโto stop Eggman and save his burning home.
How to Play
Your goal is to survive the fiery hazards, destroy Eggman's robots, and clear each burning zone. The game uses standard Sega Genesis platformer controls: press the Arrow Keys to move, and use Z, X, or C to jump. You can also take advantage of the Sonic CD moveset included in this hack. Hold Down and press jump to charge a Spin Dash, or hold Up and press jump to rev up the Super Peel Out for an instant burst of speed.
Tips
The Super Peel Out is excellent for gaining momentum on flat terrain, but be careful not to speed blindly into the new fire traps and modified enemy placements. Because the level layouts are entirely customized, you cannot rely on your memory of the original Sonic the Hedgehogโapproach boss fights and platforming sections with fresh caution.
