Sonic 3D Blast is an isometric action-platformer developed by Traveller’s Tales and published by SEGA for the Sega Genesis in 1996. Steering away from traditional 2D side-scrolling, this entry tasks players with navigating pre-rendered 3D environments to rescue Flickies. You must collect five Flickies in each section of a zone and guide them to a Warp Ring to progress to the next area.
How to Play
Your main objective is to destroy badniks to free the Flickies trapped inside, then safely escort them to Warp Rings. Sonic still has his classic Spin Dash, but the isometric perspective requires careful movement and jumping. The default browser controls are mapped as follows:
- Movement: Arrow Keys (โ/โ/โ/โ)
- Jump / Action: Z, X, or S (C, B, and A buttons)
- Start: Enter
Tips
- Use the Gold Shield: Finding a Gold Shield grants you the Homing Attack, which makes targeting enemies in the isometric perspective significantly easier.
- Special Stages: If you collect 50 rings and find either Tails or Knuckles hidden in the level, they will warp you to a 3D halfpipe Special Stage to earn a Chaos Emerald.
- Protect your Flickies: If you take damage, any Flickies following you will scatter. Prioritize gathering them back quickly before they fly away or you lose a life.
