SimAnt (Japan) is a classic simulation strategy game released for the SNES in 1993. In this unique title, players take command of a black ant colony, managing resources, breeding, and expanding their territory in a backyard struggle against nature, humans, and rival red ants.
How to Play
Your main objective is to grow your colony’s population to defeat the rival red ants and eventually conquer the human house. Use the D-pad to navigate your ant and the A/B/X/Y face buttons to perform actions like picking up food, digging, and interacting with the colony. In the browser, standard SNES controls map the D-pad to the arrow keys, the face buttons to Z, X, A, and S, and Start/Select to Enter and Shift.
Tips
- Prioritise foraging: Gather food early and often. A larger food supply allows you to breed more workers and soldiers, giving you an advantage over the red ants.
- Avoid hazards: Spiders, antlions, and even the human homeowner’s footsteps can instantly crush your ants. Keep a safe distance from large threats until you have the numbers to swarm them.
