SimAnt is a unique colony simulation game released for the SNES in 1993. Based on the PC original by Maxis, you take control of a black ant colony tasked with surviving and thriving in a suburban backyard. Your ultimate goal is to conquer the rival red ant colony and spread your forces to drive the human homeowner out of the property entirely. You directly control a single yellow ant but can switch to others, gathering food, managing colony castes, and fending off natural predators like spiders and antlions.
How to Play
Your objective is to expand your territory across the yard and into the house while eliminating the red ants. Use the D-pad to move your ant or the cursor when in menus. The A button is your primary action button, used for picking up and dropping food, attacking enemies, and confirming selections. Use the Start button to access the main menu to manage your colony’s caste proportions (workers, soldiers, and breeders) and view the map.
Tips
Don’t try to take on a spider alone early in the game; instead, swarm it with multiple soldier ants to secure a massive food source for your colony. Pay close attention to your caste ratios in the colony management menuโyou need a solid base of workers to keep the food supply steady before focusing too heavily on soldiers.
