Mr. Do! is an arcade-style action game published by Universal in 1982, later brought to the SNES. Playing as a clown, you dig through the dirt to harvest cherries while being chased by enemies. You can clear each level by collecting all the cherries, defeating every monster on screen, or spelling out the word EXTRA by defeating the letter-carrying alpha monsters.
How to play
Use the arrow keys to dig paths and maneuver. Your primary defense is a bouncing power ball, which you throw using the Z or X button. The ball ricochets through the tunnels until it hits an enemy or returns to you. Alternatively, you can crush pursuing monsters by digging underneath the apples scattered around the map, causing them to fall on anyone below.
Tips
- Use the apples strategically: You can push apples along your horizontal tunnels to position them over groups of enemies for massive bonus points.
- Manage your power ball: You only get one shot at a time. If you miss, you must wait for the ball to bounce back or run to retrieve it before you can attack again.
- Hunt the alphas: When you collect the special treat in the center of the screen, an alpha monster carrying a letter will spawn. Defeat them to help spell EXTRA for a free life.
