Game description:

Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament is a fast-paced, top-down arcade racing game released for the SNES in 1996 by Codemasters. Instead of traditional tracks, you take control of miniature vehiclesโ€”ranging from sports cars and monster trucks to hovercrafts and helicoptersโ€”and race across everyday household environments. The courses are cleverly built out of common objects, having you drift around cereal boxes on a breakfast table, dodge tools on a workbench, or navigate the hazards of a messy bedroom. Known for its intense, competitive multiplayer format, the game challenges you to not just finish first, but to outrun your opponents so completely that they fall off the edge of the screen.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate the obstacle-filled courses faster than your opponents while avoiding hazards like spilled liquids or track edges that will destroy your vehicle. In head-to-head modes, pulling far enough ahead of your rival scores a point and triggers a respawn. The game uses standard SNES controls, mapped to your keyboard in the browser: use the Arrow Keys to steer, Z or X to accelerate and brake, and Enter to start.

Tips

  • Memorize the layouts: Because the camera is zoomed in and the vehicles move incredibly fast, reacting to corners on sight is difficult. Memorizing where hazards and tight turns are is essential for winning.
  • Anticipate the hovercraft drift: Vehicles like the hovercraft have virtually no grip. You need to start turning and counter-steering long before you actually reach the corner to slide through successfully.
  • Play dirty: Don’t just focus on racing a clean line. Nudging your opponents into obstacles, off the edge of the table, or into the path of a hazard is the most effective way to eliminate them and score points.
