Ganbare! Daiku no Gen-san is a classic side-scrolling action platformer released by Irem for the Super Famicom (SNES) in 1993. Known in the West as the Hammerin' Harry series, this vibrant game follows Gen the carpenter as he takes on a corrupt construction company. Armed with his trusty oversized wooden mallet, Gen must smash enemies, deflect hazards, and navigate treacherous construction sites to save his town.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage while fighting off enemies and avoiding environmental hazards. Gen's hammer is your primary tool, used both for combat and for breaking obstacles in your path.
- Move: Arrow keys
- Jump: X key
- Attack / Smash: Z key
- Start / Pause: Enter
Tips
- Deflect projectiles: Your hammer swing has a wide arc and can successfully knock many enemy projectiles safely out of the air.
- Break the scenery: Many crates, barrels, and blocks can be smashed to reveal hidden power-ups, health-restoring items, and extra points.
- Use jump attacks: Jumping while swinging your hammer gives you extra reach against flying enemies and helps clear paths safely.
