Developed by Atari, Inc. and released in 1978, Flag Capture is a classic puzzle game for the Atari 2600 where you search a grid to uncover a hidden flag. By revealing squares, you uncover directional and numerical clues that guide you closer to the target while trying to avoid traps.
How to play
The objective is to find the flag hidden somewhere on the board. When you select a square, it will reveal either the flag, a bomb that penalizes you, or a clue. Clues appear as numbers showing the distance to the flag, or arrows pointing in its direction. Use the joystick to move your cursor (Arrow keys for Player 1, TGFH for Player 2) and press the trigger to reveal a square (Spacebar for Player 1, A for Player 2).
Tips
- Directional arrows are your best tools; mentally intersecting the paths of two different arrows will often pinpoint the exact location of the flag.
- In two-player mode, carefully watch the clues revealed by your opponent to zero in on the flag faster than they can.
