Dropzone is a fast-paced, side-scrolling shoot ’em up released for the NES in 1992, developed by Eurocom and originally created by Archer Maclean. Heavily inspired by the arcade classic Defender, the game puts you on the surface of Jupiter’s moon Io, where your mission is to pilot a jetpack to rescue stranded scientists and safely return them to your base while fending off relentless alien attacks.
How to Play
You must navigate the scrolling landscape to pick up scientists and drop them off at the base before the aliens abduct them or destroy your ship. In the browser emulator, use the Arrow Keys to fly in any direction, Z (A button) to fire your laser, and X (B button) to deploy a smart bomb. Press Enter to Start.
Tips
Keep a close eye on the mini-map at the bottom of the screen to track scientists and anticipate incoming enemy waves. Save your smart bombs for when you are completely surrounded, as they are limited and crucial for surviving later levels.
