Drakkhen is a unique hybrid role-playing game released for the Super Nintendo in 1991. Ported from its original home computer release, it drops players into a vast, open 3D overworld explored in first-person, switching to a 2D side-view perspective whenever combat breaks out. You command a party of four adventurers navigating an island divided into four distinct elemental zones, attempting to survive in a notoriously unforgiving environment.
How to Play
Your objective is to explore the island, conquer its dungeons, and recover the elemental tears to restore balance. In the browser emulator, use the arrow keys to navigate the world and menus. Press Z and X (A and B buttons) to confirm actions, draw weapons, and cast spells, while Enter serves as Start to access your party menus. During encounters, your characters will largely fight automatically based on their assigned tactics, though you can manually issue specific commands.
Tips
- Do not wander off the dirt paths at night. The game spawns extremely dangerous random encounters in the dark (including the infamous laser-shooting dog constellations) that will instantly annihilate a low-level party.
- When starting a new game, your characters begin with gear in their inventory but it is not worn. Open the menu and manually equip their weapons and armor before taking a single step.
