Released by Capcom for the NES in 1993, this action platformer sends Scrooge McDuck globetrotting to recover pieces of a lost family treasure map. Building on the beloved foundation of its predecessor, it refines the core mechanics with tighter controls, light puzzle elements, and non-linear stages that actively reward thorough exploration.
How to play
Scrooge’s primary move is his iconic pogo cane jump, which allows him to bounce off enemies for extra height and safely traverse hazardous terrain. He can also use the cane like a golf club to launch projectiles or pull heavy objects.
Controls: Use the arrow keys to move. Press X for the A button (jump) and Z for the B button (swing cane). To perform the pogo jump, press X to jump, then hold Down and press Z while in the air. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Explore levels thoroughly. You can revisit stages after purchasing upgrades from Gyro Gearloose to access previously unreachable areas and hidden treasures.
- The cane swing isn’t just for combat—use it to knock blocks into switches or break down weak walls to uncover secrets.
- Keep an eye out for hidden map pieces; finding them all unlocks an extra stage in the basement of McDuck Manor.
