Disney’s DuckTales is a 1989 NES platformer developed and published by Capcom, based on the Disney animated series of the same name. You play as Scrooge McDuck, travelling across five open-order worlds — Transylvania, the Amazon, African Mines, the Himalayas, and the Moon — collecting treasures to build the world’s greatest fortune.
How to play
Move with the arrow keys. Press X to jump and Z to use Scrooge’s cane. The signature move is the pogo: hold ↓ and press Z while airborne to bounce safely on enemies and certain terrain. Enter opens the pause menu; Shift is Select.
Tips
- Use the pogo for almost every enemy encounter — dropping onto them with ↓ + Z in the air is faster and safer than swinging the cane at ground level.
- The five worlds are free-order. Clearing each stage fully before moving on pays off: hidden gem caches add to your score and some grant health pickups.
- The Moon stage has the most demanding platforming. Its long jump arcs and sparse platforms punish mistakes, so get your pogo timing dialled in on the easier stages first.
