Game description:

In Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, released for the SNES in 1994 by Hudson Soft and Probe Software, players take control of the Beast in a challenging action-platformer. Set across locations from the classic animated film, the game tasks you with navigating the castle, the snowy forest, and the village to ultimately break the curse. The Beast relies on his imposing size, using claw swipes and a powerful roar to stun enemies like bats, wolves, and Gaston’s encroaching mob.

How to play

The goal is to reach the end of each stage while preserving your health against relentless enemies and precise jumping sequences. Use the arrow keys to move, Z or X to jump and attack, and the shoulder buttons mapped to Q and E to trigger the Beast’s roar, which briefly paralyses foes.

Tips

  • Your roar is an essential defensive tool. Use it to freeze fast-moving enemies like wolves before moving in for a claw swipe.
  • Take your time during platforming sections. The Beast has a heavy jump arc, so line up your leaps carefully to avoid taking unnecessary fall damage or landing on hazards.
  • Explore stages fully to find health-restoring items like roses, which are crucial for surviving the longer boss encounters.
