Game description:

Dig Dug II: Trouble in Paradise takes the arcade action out of the dirt and onto a series of top-down islands. Released for the NES in 1985 by Namco, this sequel changes the formula entirely: instead of tunneling, you run across the surface to clear out the invading Pookas and Fygars. You still have your trusty air pump to inflate and pop enemies, but your new tool is a jackhammer that can alter the landscape itself.

How to play

The goal is to clear each island of all enemies. You can defeat them directly by inflating them with your pump, but the faster, high-scoring method is to use your jackhammer on the island’s fault lines. Drilling at these stakes creates cracks, and completing a crack from water to water will cause that section of the island to sink, taking any enemies on it down into the sea. Be careful not to stand on the sinking section yourself!

Tips

Points are awarded based on how many enemies you drown at once. Try to herd multiple enemies onto a small peninsula before hammering the final peg to break it off. Also, remember that Fygars can breathe fire horizontally across the island, so it is safer to approach them from above or below.
