Cybernator is a heavy-mech run-and-gun action game released for the SNES in 1993. Originally developed by NCS Corporation (known in Japan as Assault Suits Valken), the game drops you into the cockpit of a powerful Federation assault suit during a futuristic global war. It stands out from traditional arcade shooters thanks to its deliberate, weighty physics, deep combat mechanics, and a robust arsenal of upgradeable weapons.
How to Play
Your objective is to fight through multi-stage military operations, ranging from orbital drops to terrestrial sieges. By default in the browser emulator, use the Arrow Keys to move and aim, Z to jump or fire your hover jets, A to shoot, and S to cycle between your weapons. You can lock your firing angle by holding Q or W, and press Enter to start.
Tips
- Master the firing lock: Holding the aim-lock button lets you strafe, meaning you can fire continuously at a target while moving backward to avoid their attacks.
- Focus on the Vulcan: Defeated enemies drop ‘P’ chips that upgrade your currently equipped weapon. Fully upgrading the standard Vulcan cannon early on will give you a devastating, screen-clearing spread of fire.
- Manage your hover jets: Your thrusters have a limited gauge. Feather the jump button to extend your air time and glide over dangerous terrain or heavily armored ground units.
