Released in 1986 for the NES, Crazy Climber is a unique action game by Nichibutsu that tasks you with scaling dangerous skyscrapers. Originally an arcade hit known for its dual-joystick controls, this home port adapts the climb to a standard gamepad. You must guide your climber window by window to the roof, dodging closing shutters, falling dumbbells, and aggressive birds along the way.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach the helicopter waiting at the top of each building. Control your climber’s movements using the D-pad (mapped to your keyboard’s arrow keys) and use the A and B buttons (Z and X keys) to pull yourself up. Press Start (Enter) to begin and Select (Shift) for options.
Tips
- Watch the windows: Shutters that are about to close will rattle briefly. Never linger on them or you will be knocked off.
- Catch the balloon: Occasionally, a balloon will float across the screen. Grabbing it gives you a temporary, hazard-free ride upwards.
