Crazy Climber is a unique 1980 action climbing game developed by Nichibutsu for the NES. You control a daredevil scaling the outside of skyscrapers while avoiding a barrage of falling objects, closing windows, and hostile enemies like giant apes and egg-dropping birds. The original arcade cabinet famously used dual joysticks to independently control the climber’s left and right hands, a rhythmic challenge that this NES port adapts to a standard controller.
How to play
Your objective is to reach the roof of each skyscraper, where a helicopter is waiting to pick you up. Move carefully, as your hands can only grip open windows. Closing windows will push you off, and falling debris must be dodged by moving horizontally.

- Windows that are about to close will vibrate slightlyโmove your hands quickly when you see this.
- You can survive falling objects if both of your hands are securely gripping windows, though you’ll be stunned briefly.
- Watch the patterns of the condor; it drops eggs at predictable intervals, giving you a window to climb past.
