A Bug’s Life is a 3D platformer developed by Traveller’s Tales and released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, based on the popular Disney/Pixar animated film. You take control of Flik, an inventive ant on a quest to save his colony from a menacing gang of grasshoppers. The game faithfully recreates environments from the movie, challenging you to navigate large, insect-scaled worlds, solve environmental puzzles using seeds, and defeat enemy bugs.
How to Play
The main objective is to guide Flik through each level, collecting grain and tokens while working your way to the exit or defeating a boss. Flik can run, jump, bounce on enemies, and throw berries to defend himself. A core mechanic is finding and planting different types of seeds, which grow into useful plants like trampolines or climbing vines. In the browser emulator, movement is mapped to the arrow keys, with the Z and X keys acting as your primary action buttons for jumping and throwing. Press Enter to pause or start.
Tips
- Upgrade your berries: Look for colored berry power-ups. These upgrade your basic throws into homing berries or more powerful projectiles that make dealing with flying enemies much easier.
- Match seeds to obstacles: If you cannot reach a ledge, look for a seed. Brown seeds typically grow into climbing vines, while green ones grow into bouncy leaves.
- Collect the letters: Searching the levels to find the letters that spell F-L-I-K will reward you with an extra life.
