Game description:

Carmageddon 64 is a vehicular combat game for the Nintendo 64, developed by Software Creations and released in 1999. Each race gives you three routes to victory: cross the finish line ahead of the competition, wreck every rival car, or eliminate all pedestrians from the course. Hits against opponents and pedestrians also extend the clock, so aggression is never wasted even when you are aiming for the fastest lap.

How to Play

The analog stick steers; A accelerates and B brakes or reverses. In the browser, the stick maps to WASD or the arrow keys, A to X, and B to Z. Choose your strategy before the race: clean lap times suit tighter circuits, while sprawling courses often reward targeting the nearest rivals and wrecking them for the time bonuses they give up.

Tips

  • Pedestrian hits add a fixed amount of time to the clock — on courses with a tight limit, routing through clusters matters more than chasing scattered targets.
  • A rival near the end of their health is a priority: finishing them off removes one threat and usually adds a useful chunk of time back to the clock.
  • Sustained impacts with barriers and opponents degrade handling noticeably — collect repair tokens when you see them rather than waiting until the car is badly compromised.
