Blockout brings the familiar falling-block puzzle mechanics into three dimensions. Developed by California Dreams and released for the Sega Genesis in 1989, it places you at the top of a deep, three-dimensional rectangular pit. Instead of maneuvering flat shapes, you rotate polycubes in all three axes to form solid layers that clear from the well.
How to play
The objective is to clear planes of blocks by filling every empty space on a 2D layer, preventing the 3D pit from filling up to the top. Use the controls below to maneuver and rotate the pieces in three dimensions:

Tips
- Master spatial awareness: Since pieces can rotate in three dimensions, practice visualizing how a piece will land before committing to its descent. The X, Y, and Z rotations correspond to the A, B, and C buttons (S, X, and Z on your keyboard).
- Build along the walls: Keep the center clear if possible. A tall center can block placements and make it difficult to maneuver pieces into the corners of the well.
