Abadox is a notorious 1989 shoot ’em up for the NES. Instead of a typical spaceship setting, players control Lieutenant Nazal as he flies deep into the grotesque anatomy of a giant alien organism called Parasitis to rescue a swallowed princess. The game famously alternates between horizontal and vertical scrolling stages, taking you through biological environments filled with eyeballs, teeth, and cellular horrors.
How to play
The objective is to survive the treacherous biological gauntlet and defeat the core bosses. Use the D-pad (mapped to arrow keys) to navigate the claustrophobic anatomy, press A (Z key) to fire your primary weapon, and B (X key) to use protective barriers or special attacks. Start and Select map to Enter and Shift.
Tips
- Abadox is notoriously unforgiving with one-hit deaths. Memorize enemy spawn patterns, as the cramped biological terrain gives you very little room to dodge.
- Prioritize upgrading to the laser and spread gun, and collect speed-ups carefullyโmoving too fast in the tight corridors can easily lead to a fatal crash into the walls.
