Sky Mission is a World War I flight simulation game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), released by Namco in 1992. Known in Western markets as Wings 2: Aces High, this title serves as a successor to the classic Amiga game Wings. Players manage a squadron of pilots and take to the skies in biplanes, experiencing the early era of aerial combat through varied campaigns encompassing dogfights, bombing runs, and strafing missions.
How to Play
Your objective is to lead your squadron through a series of World War I missions while trying to keep your pilots alive, as permadeath affects your roster. Missions alternate between engaging enemy aircraft in 3D dogfights, executing top-down bombing runs, and performing isometric strafing attacks on ground targets.
The game is played using the SNES controls mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to steer your biplane, Z and X to fire machine guns or drop bombs, and Enter and Shift for Start and Select.
Tips
- Monitor your ammunition during dogfights. Machine guns can jam or run out of ammo if fired continuously, so only shoot when you have a clear shot.
- Pilots gain experience and improve their stats if they survive missions. If a pilot dies, they are permanently replaced by a rookie, so rotate your roster to build up a strong team rather than relying on just one ace.
