Track & Field is Konami’s 1984 Atari 2600 port of their popular 1983 arcade game. Players work through a sequence of Olympic-style athletic events — sprinting and field events — competing alone or head-to-head with a second player sharing the keyboard.
How to play
Running events reward speed: move the joystick rapidly back and forth to accelerate your athlete. For field events, trigger timing determines distance or height — press too early or too late and you lose significant ground. Two players can compete simultaneously, each with their own control set.
| Player 1 | Player 2 | |
| Joystick | ↑ ↓ ← → | T / G / F / H |
| Trigger | Spacebar | A |
| Reset | F12 | |
| Select | F11 | |
| Pause | Alt+P | |
Tips
In field events, experiment with trigger timing — the optimal release point varies by event and a fraction of a second makes a big difference. For running, a steady rhythmic alternation of the joystick builds more speed than frantic random movement.
